Frequently asked questions

Everything you might be wondering

Straight answers about cost, insurance, privacy, and what working with Alicia actually feels like.

Do you see clients in person?

No. Alicia's practice is fully remote. Sessions are held by private, HIPAA-compliant video, audio-only, or phone.

Who can become a client?

Alicia sees individuals of all ages, from children through older adults, who reside in Florida.

I live in Florida but travel often. Can I keep my sessions?

In many cases, yes. If travel takes you out of state, talk with Alicia about keeping your sessions on schedule.

Do you take my insurance?

Alicia is in-network with Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Florida Blue, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage, Oscar (Optum), Oxford (Optum), UnitedHealthcare (Optum), Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Coverage varies by plan and is verified before your first session.

What does a session cost without insurance?

$150 for an individual session. Sliding-scale appointments may be available; just ask.

What happens in the first session?

It is a conversation, not an interrogation. Alicia will ask what brought you in, what has been happening, and what you hope will change. Before that, you will have a free 10-minute consultation so you can get a feel for working together.

How long does therapy take?

Honestly: therapy is not an overnight fix. It is a commitment to keep your appointments and engage with the work, sometimes for months, sometimes for years, while the effects of your experiences unravel at their own pace. Clients who commit to the process, including the homework between sessions, are the ones who grow the most. The goal is not just feeling better this week. It is becoming the fullest version of yourself.

Is what I share private?

Yes. Sessions are confidential and held over HIPAA-compliant platforms, within the limits of Florida law, which Alicia will review with you at intake.

What ages do you work with?

All ages, from children through elders. Parents of younger clients are involved as appropriate.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. As an LMHC, Alicia provides talk therapy. If medication might help, she can coordinate with your physician or refer you to a prescriber.

What is an LMHC?

A Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Florida licenses three main types of talk-therapy clinicians: LMHCs, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT). Alicia is an LMHC, licensed by the State of Florida (MH21764).
